"Kent House Medic"

Handy man services for Kent & Medway

About Kent House Medic

Jim Haskell the proprietor of Kent House Medic, served 29 years as a police constable with Kent Police, based in Swale, mainly at Sittingbourne and Faversham police stations. During most of his career, he was a uniformed response officer, answering 999 calls etc.
Early in his career he spent two years as the rural beat officer for Newington, Danaway and Hartlip.
During the last two years, he assisted the police licensing officer for Swale with the implementation of the Licensing Act 2005..

Having retired from the police, in September 2007, James looked for a new direction for his life, and having fully renovated two houses in the past, and helped friends and colleagues update their houses decided to turn his hobby into a business, providing a professional handman service.
Jim prefers to call himself a multi-skilled person rather than a handyman or odd job man, as he has taken the trouble to get himself trained. Having spent years doing a varied job, he couldn't stand the idea, of just looking after electrics every day, life and work needs variety.

Jim has attended courses at Able Skills Dartford, where took courses to become a Domestic Electric Installer (City & Guilds 2382), PAT tester, and other courses in Plumbing and Brick laying. Other building skills he has picked up during years of renovating houses.

As stated in the introduction on the home page, he has seen too much of sloppy workmanship, and the disputes and stresses that causes, to home owners.
He will therefore do his upmost, to keep the house owner informed of any difficulties,
and to keep to his side of the agreement, all he asks in return, is that he receives
adequate cups of coffee at the start of the day and lunch time and prompt payment.

To ensure that you are not ripped of Jim advises that you purchase and read

"Sarah Beeny's - Price the Job - Your Price Guide to Renovation & Repair (2008)"
https://www.bcbookshop.co.uk/nla/book.php?id=27036

This will give you a good guide on what to look for in a builder and advises you what you
should be paying, well worth the £9.99 cost.
