Why can't I just do my own electrics? You might ask, I always used
to.
The DIY stores still sell all the bits I need.
A. From 1 January 2005 it is a legal requirement
for all work on fixed electrical installations in dwellings and associated
buildings to comply with relevant standards.
The relevant UK standard is BS 7671: 2001, 'Requirements for electrical
installations'
(The IEE Wiring Regulations 16th Edition). BS 7671 covers requirements
for design, installation, inspection, testing, verification and certification.

Building
Regulations relating to Part "P"
If the wiring that you intend to do yourself is notifiable under the
Building regulations, under Part "P" in
order for you to carry out the work, as a competant person, you need
to apply to your local Council for Building Regulations Approval,
this will cost on average £200.

All my work is inspected & tested, and a certificate will be issued
upon completion, and payment for the work.
Also qualified for Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

Add extra telephone sockets to bedrooms etc.

and wireless Burglar alarms (Not NACOSS registered)
These alarm units will dial out if activated, to inform nominated
persons that it has
activated. The police will not normally attend audible house alarms,
only those from a
central station. These alarms allow you to listen in, so that you
can hear whether
there is anyone in the premises, then inform the police yourself.
