"Kent
House Medic"
Frequently
asked questions, about our
Building and Property Maintenance Service
& Handyman Service.
Q.
Who carries out the work?
A. The proprietor carries out all work himself.
Q.
What about quotes?
A. I always give a written quote, giving details of all the work is
to be undertaken.
This quote is subject to what can be seen, if there are additional hidden
defects, that were not visible to inspection at the time of the quote
being given, additional labour time and costs may be incurred. All quotes
are free of charge to visit and quote.
Q.
What about payment?
A. Prompt payment for full or part work from the house owner is expected,
at the end of the job, as cash flow is a major concern to all businesses.
I accept cash and cheques for payment. If you require me to pay for
large items on your behalf, then I shall require payment up front for
those. (once bitten, twice shy!). Therefore here at Kent House Medic,
before I commence any work, I shall expect both sides to sign a written
agreement or contract, detailing what both parties expect of the other.
Q.
Cost?
A. Each job is priced individually, depending upon the skill
level required, the tools that are required, or whether it is just a
quickie. I am not going to charge £25 just to change a plug.
Q. Does Kent House Medic carry out work, for Landlords?
A. Yes, property maintenance work can be carried out, for rented accommodation,
the same prices, same conditions as private houses.
Q. Will the work require Planning permission ?
A.This deals with the way the building looks and the effect
it will have on other properties and residents living nearby. More advice
on Planning permission.
Q. Will the work require Building Regulations approval?
A. These regulations have been put in place to ensure that
any work carried out on your property will be of an acceptable standard,
and that once the work has been carried out, the premises will still
be safe to live in. More advice on Building
Regulations.

"On my part, I will agree to carry out work to the highest
standard, my minimum is to comply with any building regulations that
exist, I will not cut corners in order to save a few pence.
I would want to be happy living with the finished product myself, therefore
all work will be guaranteed for a minimum of one year, subject to fair
wear and tear in domestic use; not subject to negligent use, criminal
damage or Act of God.
The best advertising is word of mouth, and we want you to be telling
people, what a good service you have received."
